Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فَقِيلَ (١) : أَوَلَسْتَ تُوَاصِلُ؟ قَالَ: " إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade people from observing continuous fasting with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor) in the month of Ramadan. So they said, "Do you not do this yourself?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "I am given food and drink by Allah."
