حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ (٤) قَالَ:، ، قِيلَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ إِنَّا نَدْخُلُ عَلَى أُمَرَائِنَا فَنَقُولُ الْقَوْلَ، فَإِذَا خَرَجْنَا قُلْنَا غَيْرَهُ، فَقَالَ: " كُنَّا نَعُدُّ هَذَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النِّفَاقَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Abu Al-Sha’tha’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once a person asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): "We go to our rulers and say something, and when we come out, we say something else?" Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: "In the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ), we used to consider this as hypocrisy."
