حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَأَى حُلَّةً سِيَرَاءَ تُبَاعُ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَوِ اشْتَرَيْتَهَا فَلَبِسْتَهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَلِلْوُفُودِ إِذَا قَدِمُوا عَلَيْكَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ "، ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهَا حُلَلٌ، فَأَعْطَى عُمَرَ مِنْهَا حُلَّةً، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَسَوْتَنِيهَا، وَقَدْ، ، قُلْتَ فِيهَا مَا قُلْتَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنِّي لَمْ أَكْسُكَهَا لَتَلْبَسَهَا، إِنَّمَا كَسَوْتُكَهَا لِتَبِيعَهَا أَوْ لِتَكْسُوَهَا " (١) قَالَ: فَكَسَاهَا عُمَرُ أَخًا لَهُ مُشْرِكًا مِنْ أُمِّهِ بِمَكَّةَ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a silk garment being sold at the door of the mosque, so he said to the Prophet (ﷺ): "O Messenger of Allah! If you were to buy this, you could wear it on Fridays or when delegations come to you." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "This is worn by the one who has no share in the Hereafter." A few days later, some silk garments came to the Prophet (ﷺ) from somewhere, and the Prophet (ﷺ) sent one of those garments to Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You yourself said what I heard regarding this, and now you have sent me this silk garment?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I have sent it to you so that you may sell it and use its price for yourself, or dress someone else in it." So Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave that garment to his maternal brother, who was a polytheist and lived in Makkah.
