Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once a man came to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) and inquired about the night prayer, at that time the Prophet (ﷺ) was on the pulpit. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The night prayer consists of two rak‘ahs at a time, and when you fear that morning is near, then add one rak‘ah to these two, whatever prayer you have offered during the night, this will suffice for witr on behalf of all of them."
