حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ: كَسَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُبْطِيَّةً، وَكَسَا أُسَامَةَ حُلَّةً سِيَرَاءَ قَالَ: فَنَظَرَ فَرَآنِي قَدْ (١) أَسْبَلْتُ، فَجَاءَ فَأَخَذَ بِمَنْكِبِي وَقَالَ: " يَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ، كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَسَّ الْأَرْضَ (٢) مِنَ الثِّيَابِ فَفِي النَّارِ " قَالَ: فَرَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَتَّزِرُ إِلَى نِصْفِ السَّاقِ (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) gave him a silk garment and gave Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) a linen garment. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) saw me and that cloth was trailing on the ground. The Prophet (ﷺ) advanced, took hold of my shoulder, and said: "O Ibn Umar! The part of the garment that touches the ground will be in Hell." The narrator says that after that, I saw Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) tying his lower garment up to half of his shin.
