حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: " كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ كَانَ (٢) يُدْخِلُ فَصَّهُ فِي بَاطِنِ كَفِّهِ فَطَرَحَهُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، فَطَرَحَ أَصْحَابُهُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ، ثُمَّ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، وَكَانَ يَخْتِمُ بِهِ وَلَا يَلْبَسُهُ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) had a ring made of gold. He would turn its stone towards the palm of his hand. The people also had rings made. Upon this, the Prophet (ﷺ) threw it away, and the people also removed and threw away their rings. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) had a ring made of silver, with which he would seal (letters), but he would not wear it.
