حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ فُضَيلٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: أَخَّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ حَتَّى نَامَ النَّاسُ، وَتَهَجَّدَ الْمُتَهَجِّدُونَ، وَاسْتَيْقَظَ الْمُسْتَيْقِظُ، فَخَرَجَ، فَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، وَقَالَ: (١) " لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَخَّرْتُهَا إِلَى هَذَا الْوَقْتِ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) delayed the ‘Isha prayer so much that those who sleep had gone to sleep, those who perform Tahajjud had performed Tahajjud, and those who stay awake remained awake. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) came out and said: “If I did not fear hardship for my Ummah, I would have delayed the ‘Isha prayer until this time.”
