Translation

English translation

Saeed bin Jubair says that once I went out with Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) from his house. We passed by some young men of the Quraysh who had tied up a bird and were practicing their aim on it, and they had told the owner of the bird that whichever arrow misses, it will be yours. At this, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) became angry and said, "Who is doing this?" Immediately, all the young men scattered to the right and left. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed the person who ties up a living creature and practices his aim on it."
