حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي نُعْمٍ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ شَيْءٍ - قَالَ شُعْبَةُ: وَأَحْسِبُهُ سَأَلَهُ عَنِ الْمُحْرِمِ يَقْتُلُ الذُّبَابَ؟ - فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: أَهْلُ الْعِرَاقِ يَسْأَلُونَ عَنِ الذُّبَابِ، وَقَدْ قَتَلُوا ابْنَ بِنْتِ، ، رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " هُمَا رَيْحَانَتِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Once, a man from Iraq asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the ruling if a Muhrim kills a fly. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: "These people of Iraq come to me asking about killing a fly, while the grandson of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was martyred (without anyone asking about it), even though the Prophet (peace be upon him) had said about his two grandsons: 'These two are my sweet basils from this world.'"
