حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ جَبَلَةَ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا " وَطَبَّقَ أَصَابِعَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ، وَكَسَرَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ الْإِبْهَامَ، يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ: تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ (٢) (٣)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Sometimes the month is like this, like this, and like this." The third time, he (peace be upon him) folded his thumb, meaning twenty-nine (days).
