حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ: " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الثَّمَرَةِ أَوِ النَّخْلِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ صَلَاحُهُ " فَقِيلَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ: مَا صَلَاحُهُ؟ قَالَ: تَذْهَبُ عَاهَتُهُ (٢)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade the sale of fruits or dates until they are fully ripe. Someone asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the meaning of "ripening," so he replied that it means their afflictions have gone away.
