حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ " - وَطَبَّقَ شُعْبَةُ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَكَسَرَ الْإِبْهَامَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ - قَالَ عُقْبَةُ: وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ: " وَالشَّهْرُ ثَلَاثُونَ "، وَطَبَّقَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ (٢)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Sometimes the month is such, such, and such," and the third time the Prophet (ﷺ) folded his thumb, "and sometimes it is such, such, and such," meaning a complete thirty days.
