Original Arabic
وَأَخْبَرَنَا يَعْنِي يَزِيدَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، كَانَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ أَعْتَقَ نَصِيبًا لَهُ فِي إِنْسَانٍ أَوْ مَمْلُوكٍ، كُلِّفَ عِتْقَ بَقِيَّتِهِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ يُعْتِقُهُ بِهِ فَقَدْ جَازَ مَا عَتَقَ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever frees his share of a slave, he will be made responsible for freeing the remaining share as well. If he does not possess enough wealth to free the rest, then only the portion he has freed will remain freed."
