Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، وَنَافِعٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ رَكْعَتَانِ، فَإِذَا خِفْتُمُ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرُوا بِوَاحِدَةٍ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The night prayer consists of two rak'ahs at a time. When you fear that dawn is approaching, then add one rak'ah as witr to these two."
