Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ بِالْحِجْرِ: " لَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمِ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونُوا بَاكِينَ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا بَاكِينَ، فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يُصِيبَكُمْ مِثْلُ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed by the vicinity of the people of Thamud, he said: "Enter the places of the punished nations weeping. If you are not able to weep, then do not go there, for I fear that the same punishment may befall you as befell them."
