حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُبَارَكٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ خُيَلَاءَ لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ". فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: إِنَّ أَحَدَ شِقَّيْ ثَوْبِي يَسْتَرْخِي، إِلَّا أَنْ أَتَعَاهَدَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّكَ لَسْتَ مِمَّنْ يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ خُيَلَاءَ " قَالَ مُوسَى: قُلْتُ: لِسَالِمٍ أَذَكَرَ عَبْدُ اللهِ، مَنْ جَرَّ إِزَارَهُ؟ قَالَ: " لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ ذَكَرَ إِلَّا ثَوْبَهُ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever drags his clothes on the ground out of arrogance, Allah Almighty will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection." Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: "Sometimes one corner of my garment hangs down, although I try very hard (to keep it up)?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "You are not among those who do this out of arrogance."
