حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، وَيَزِيدُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَرَمَى بِهِ وَقَالَ: " لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا " قَالَ يَزِيدُ: فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ (١)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had a ring made of gold. The people also had rings made. Upon this, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, threw it away and said, "I will never wear it again." The narrator says that then the people also took off and threw away their rings.
