حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ مَثَلَ الْمُؤْمِنِ مَثَلُ شَجَرَةٍ لَا يَسْقُطُ وَرَقُهَا، فَمَا هِيَ؟ " قَالَ: فَقَالُوا: وَقَالُوا: فَلَمْ يُصِيبُوا،، ، وَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَقُولَ: هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ، فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Among the trees, there is a tree which is like a Muslim (can you tell which tree that is?)" People presented their own opinions, and I wanted to say that it is the date-palm tree, but then the Prophet (ﷺ) himself said that it is the date-palm tree.
