سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ، قَالَ إِنَّهُ: " نَذَرَ - يَعْنِي - أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ، فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ " فَأَمَرَهُ " قِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ نَذَرَ (٢) قَالَ: نَعَمْ (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
Imam, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I heard Sufyan saying that he had made a vow to perform i'tikaf in Masjid al-Haram. He asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about it, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered him to fulfill that vow. Someone asked Sufyan, "This narration has been transmitted by Ayyub from Nafi' on the authority of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had made this vow?" He replied, "Yes!"
