حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ، حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ الْأَحْدَبُ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ،، ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيُّ الْإِثْمِ أَعْظَمُ؟ قَالَ: " أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِلَّهِ نِدًّا وَهُوَ خَلَقَكَ "، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ثُمَّ مَاذَا؟، قَالَ: " ثُمَّ أَنْ تُزَانِيَ حَلِيلَةَ جَارِكَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I asked the Prophet (ﷺ): "Which sin is the greatest?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Associating partners with Allah, especially when it is Allah Who created you." I asked: "After that, which sin is the greatest?" He said: "Committing adultery with your neighbor's wife."
