حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةَ الْجِنِّ خَطَّ حَوْلَهُ، فَكَانَ يَجِيءُ أَحَدُهُمْ مِثْلُ سَوَادِ النَّخْلِ، وَقَالَ لِي: " لَا تَبْرَحْ مَكَانَكَ "، فَأَقْرَأَهُمْ كِتَابَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى الزُّطَّ، قَالَ: " كَأَنَّهُمْ هَؤُلَاءِ "، وَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَمَعَكَ مَاءٌ؟ ". قُلْتُ: لَا، قَالَ: " أَمَعَكَ نَبِيذٌ؟ ": قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، فَتَوَضَّأَ بِهِ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the night of the jinn, the Prophet (ﷺ) drew a line around him. A man from among the jinn would come like several date-palm trees. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to me, "Do not move from your place." The Prophet (ﷺ) taught them the Noble Qur'an. When Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) saw the Jats, he said that they were people like them. On that occasion, the Prophet (ﷺ) also asked me, "Do you have water?" I replied, "No." He said, "Do you have nabidh?" I replied, "Yes!" So the Prophet (ﷺ) performed ablution with that.
