Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Fatimah bint Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: "When your waiting period ('iddah) is over, inform me." After my 'iddah ended, several people sent me marriage proposals, among whom were Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abu Jahm (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Muawiyah is poor and has no wealth, while Abu Jahm beats women (he is harsh in nature). Rather, you should marry Usamah bin Zaid." He gestured with his hand and said: "Usamah!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said to her: "It is better for you to obey Allah and His Messenger in this matter." So I accepted this proposal, and later people began to envy me.
