حَدِيثُ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةِ واسْمُهَا نُسَيْبَةُ (١)، ٢٧٢٩٧ - حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ نُغَسِّلُ ابْنَتَهُ فَقَالَ: " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا، أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ذَلِكَ، وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ (٢) كَافُورًا، أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي "، فَآذَنَّاهُ فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حَقْوَهُ فَقَالَ: " أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ "، قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: وَحَدَّثَتْنَاهُ حَفْصَةُ، قَالَتْ: فَجَعَلْنَا رَأْسَهَا ثَلَاثَةَ قُرُونٍ (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that we were washing the daughter of the Prophet (ﷺ), Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), when the Prophet (ﷺ) came to us and said: "Wash her three times or more (in odd numbers), and if you think appropriate, mix lote tree leaves in the water, and at the end, apply camphor to her. When you have finished with these things, inform me." So when we finished, we informed the Prophet (ﷺ), and he threw his lower garment towards us and said: "Wrap her body in this first." The narrator of the hadith, Muhammad, says that Hafsah bint Sirin also narrated this hadith to us, but she said that we divided her hair into three parts.
