Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he cooked meat in a pot for the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Give me its foreleg.” So I gave it to him. After a little while, the Prophet (ﷺ) asked for another foreleg, and I gave that too. After a little while, the Prophet (ﷺ) again asked for a foreleg. I said: “O Messenger of Allah! How many forelegs does a goat have?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if you had remained silent, forelegs would have continued to come out of this pot as long as I kept asking you.” Then the Prophet (ﷺ) asked for water, rinsed his mouth, washed the tips of his fingers, and stood up to pray. Then he came back to them and found some cold meat lying there; the Prophet (ﷺ) ate that as well, and entered the mosque and performed prayer without touching water.
