حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ يَعْنِي عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَقِيلٍ الثَّقَفِيَّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَتْ: قَدِمَتْ عَلَيَّ أُمِّي فِي مُدَّةِ قُرَيْشٍ مُشْرِكَةً، وَهِيَ رَاغِبَةٌ، يَعْنِي مُحْتَاجَةٌ، فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ أُمِّي قَدِمَتْ عَلَيَّ وَهِيَ مُشْرِكَةٌ رَاغِبَةٌ أَفَأَصِلُهَا؟ قَالَ: " صِلِي أُمَّكِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Asma that once my mother came during the time of the treaty with the Quraysh. At that time, she was a polytheist and in need. I asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "Can I maintain ties of kinship with her?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Yes, maintain ties of kinship with your mother."
