حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُبَارَكٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ، تَقُولُ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ وَيَوْمَ الْأَحَدِ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا (٢) يَصُومُ مِنَ الْأَيَّامِ، وَيَقُولُ: " إِنَّهُمَا، ، يَوْمَا (١) عِيدِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، فَأَنَا (٢) أُحِبُّ أَنْ أُخَالِفَهُمْ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to fast more frequently on Saturdays and Sundays than on other days, and he used to say that these are the festival days of the polytheists, so I want to act contrary to them.
