حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْجَزَّارِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ، فَلَمَّا كَبِرَ وَضَعُفَ، أَوْتَرَ بِسَبْعٍ " (٢)، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that previously the Prophet (ﷺ) used to perform Witr with thirteen rak'ahs, but when the Prophet (ﷺ) grew older and became weak, he started performing Witr with seven rak'ahs.
