Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: "When a person is afflicted by a calamity and says 'Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un' and then supplicates, 'O Allah! Reward me for my affliction and grant me something better in exchange for it,' Allah Almighty will reward him for his affliction and grant him something better in exchange for it." When my husband Abu Salamah passed away, I thought, "Who could be better than Abu Salamah?" Yet Allah Almighty gave me the strength of dignity, and I recited this supplication. After my waiting period ('iddah) was over, the Prophet (ﷺ) sent me a proposal of marriage.
