حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الصُّفَيْرَاءَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ ابْنُ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا، وَانْقَضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا، خَطَبَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ فِيَّ ثَلَاثَ خِصَالٍ: أَنَا امْرَأَةٌ كَبِيرَةٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَنَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْكِ ". قَالَتْ: وَأَنَا امْرَأَةٌ غَيُورٌ. قَالَ: " أَدْعُو اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَيُذْهِبُ، ، غَيْرَتَكِ ". قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَإِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ مُصْبِيَةٌ. قَالَ: " هُمْ إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ". قَالَ: فَتَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. قَالَ: فَأَتَاهَا، فَوَجَدَهَا تُرْضِعُ، فَانْصَرَفَ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهَا، فَوَجَدَهَا تُرْضِعُ، فَانْصَرَفَ. قَالَ: فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ، فَأَتَاهَا، فَقَالَ: حُلْتِ بَيْنَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبَيْنَ حَاجَتِهِ، هَلُمَّ الصَّبِيَّةَ، قَالَ: فَأَخَذَهَا، فَاسْتَرْضَعَ لَهَا، فَأَتَاهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: " أَيْنَ زُنَابُ؟ "، يَعْنِي زَيْنَبَ، قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَخَذَهَا عَمَّارٌ. فَدَخَلَ بِهَا، وَقَالَ: " إِنَّ بِكِ عَلَى أَهْلِكِ كَرَامَةً ". قَالَ: فَأَقَامَ عِنْدَهَا إِلَى الْعَشِيِّ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " إِنْ شِئْتِ سَبَّعْتُ لَكِ، وَإِنْ سَبَّعْتُ لَكِ، سَبَّعْتُ لِسَائِرِ نِسَائِي، وَإِنْ شِئْتِ، قَسَمْتُ لَكِ " قَالَتْ: لَا، بَلْ اقْسِمْ لِي (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that after the death of Abu Salamah and the completion of her waiting period (‘iddah), the Prophet (ﷺ) sent her a proposal of marriage. She said, "O Messenger of Allah! There are three qualities in me: I am old in age." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I am older than you." She said, "I am a jealous woman." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I will pray to Allah, and He will remove your jealousy." She said, "I have children." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "They are under the responsibility of Allah and His Messenger." Thus, the Prophet (ﷺ) married her. Then, whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) would come to her for privacy, as soon as she saw him, she would take her daughter Zainab and seat her in her lap, and eventually the Prophet (ﷺ) would leave in the same way. When Ammar bin Yasir, who was the foster brother of Umm Salamah, came to know of this, he came to Umm Salamah and said, "Where is that dirty girl through whom you have been causing harm to the Prophet (ﷺ)?" and he took her away with him. This time, when the Prophet (ﷺ) came and entered the house, he looked around in all four corners of the room and then asked about the girl, "Where has Zanab (Zainab) gone?" She replied, "Ammar came and took her with him." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) had privacy with her and said, "If you wish, I can spend seven days with you, but then I will have to spend seven days with each of my other wives as well." She said, "No, please fix my turn (as usual)."
