It is narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that during the time of the Prophet (ﷺ), women would consider themselves in postpartum bleeding (nifas) for forty days after childbirth, and due to spots appearing on our faces, we used to apply wars (a type of herb) to our faces.
