حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: قَتَادَةُ أَنْبَأَنِي، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُوسَى بْنَ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: إِنِّي أَكُونُ بِمَكَّةَ، فَكَيْفَ أُصَلِّي؟ قَالَ: " رَكْعَتَيْنِ، سُنَّةَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
'Abdullah bin Tawoos narrated that his father said:
We used to say when we were children: The one who takes back his gift is like the dog that vomits, then goes back to its vomit. And we did not know that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had used this as a likeness until Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه) told us that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The one who takes back his gift is like the dog that vomits, then goes back to its vomit.”
