Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the wife of Uthman bin Maz'oon, Khawla bint Hakim, used to apply henna and smell of fragrance, but suddenly she abandoned all these things. One day she came to me in a disheveled state, so the Prophet (ﷺ) said to me, "Aisha! Why is Khawla in this bad condition?" I replied, "O Messenger of Allah! She is like a woman who has no husband, because her husband fasts all day and prays all night, so she is as if she has no husband. That is why she has left herself in this state." The Prophet (ﷺ) met him and said, "O Uthman! Are you turning away from my Sunnah?" He replied, "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah! I am seeking your Sunnah." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then I sleep and I pray, I fast and I break my fast, and I marry women. Therefore, O Uthman! Fear Allah, for your family, your guests, and even your own self have rights over you. So fast and also break your fast, pray and also sleep."
