حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ يَعْنِي الْوَاسِطِيَّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ (٢) ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَا عَائِشَةُ، إِنْ كُنْتِ أَلْمَمْتِ بِذَنْبٍ فَاسْتَغْفِرِي اللهَ، فَإِنَّ التَّوْبَةَ مِنَ الذَّنْبِ: النَّدَمُ وَالِاسْتِغْفَارُ " (٣)، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that on the occasion of the incident of Ifk, the Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: O Aisha! If you have intended a sin, then seek forgiveness from Allah, because repentance from sin is remorse and seeking forgiveness.
