حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَاتُ: {تُرْجِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُؤْوِي} [الأحزاب: ٥١] إِلَيْكَ مَنْ تَشَاءُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا أَرَى رَبَّكَ إِلَّا يُسَارِعُ فِي هَوَاكَ (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when this verse was revealed: "You may defer whomever you wish among your wives and bring near whomever you wish," Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "O Messenger of Allah! I see that your Lord hastens to fulfill your desires."
