Musnad Ahmad Hadith 26100

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to her: "Do you know that when your people rebuilt the Ka'bah, they reduced it from the foundations of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Then why do you not return it to the foundation of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If your people had not recently been in the time of disbelief, I would have done so." Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) heard this hadith and said, "By Allah, if Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) heard this hadith from the Prophet (ﷺ), then I think that the Prophet (ﷺ) did not touch the two corners adjacent to the Hatim for this very reason, that the construction of the House of Allah was not completed on the foundations of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)."
