حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ الْعُقَيْلِيِّ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ: عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَتْ: " كَانَ يُصَلِّي لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا قَائِمًا، وَلَيْلًا طَوِيلًا قَاعِدًا، وَكَانَ إِذَا قَرَأَ قَائِمًا رَكَعَ قَائِمًا، وَإِذَا (١) قَرَأَ جَالِسًا رَكَعَ جَالِسًا " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
Abdullah bin Shaqiq reports: I asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the voluntary prayers of the Prophet (ﷺ), so she said: In the night prayer, the Prophet (ﷺ) would pray for a long time and would sit for quite a while. The Prophet (ﷺ) would recite, bow, and prostrate while standing, and he would also recite, bow, and prostrate while sitting.
