حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، (٢) فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِعَبْدِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ " الْوَلَدُ لِلْفِرَاشِ، وَلِلْعَاهِرِ الْحَجَرُ ". ثُمَّ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ أَنْ تَحْتَجِبَ مِنْهُ لِمَا رَأَى مِنْ شَبَهِهِ بِعُتْبَةَ فَمَا رَآهَا حَتَّى لَقِيَ اللهَ (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to ‘Abd bin Zam‘ah: “The child belongs to the (owner of the) bed, and for the adulterer is the stone.” The Prophet (ﷺ) saw the child and noticed a clear resemblance to ‘Utbah. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “O Sawdah! Observe veiling from him.” Thus, she did not see him until his death.
