English translation
It is narrated from Amir that he asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the meaning of these two verses: "Whether you disclose what is in your hearts or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it," and that "whoever does an evil deed will be recompensed for it." She replied: Since the day I asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about these verses, no one has asked me about them until today. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: O Aisha! What is meant by this are the successive calamities that Allah afflicts His servant with, such as being bitten by an animal, suffering pain, being pricked by a thorn, or losing something a person keeps in his sleeve and then, after searching anxiously, finds it between his sides, until the believer comes out of his sins just as a red gold nugget comes out of the furnace.
