Translation

English translation

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to Aswad bin Yazid regarding the night prayer of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to sleep in the early part of the night and wake up in the last part of the night. Then, if he felt a need towards his wife, he would fulfill his need, then before touching water, he would stand up. When the first call to prayer (adhan) was given, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would quickly go and pour water over his body, and if he was not in a state of major impurity (janabah), he would only perform the ablution (wudu) for prayer and then go for the prayer.
