حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَنْظَلَةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ سَابِطٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: أَبْطَأْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: " مَا حَبَسَكِ يَا عَائِشَةُ؟ " قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ رَجُلًا مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا أَحْسَنَ قِرَاءَةً مِنْهُ. قَالَ: فَذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِذَا هُوَ سَالِمٌ مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي أُمَّتِي مِثْلَكَ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once I was delayed in reaching the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Aisha! What kept you?" She replied, "O Messenger of Allah! There was a man in the mosque; I have not seen anyone recite better than him." The Prophet (ﷺ) went there and saw that it was Salim (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Praise be to Allah who made someone like you in my Ummah."
