حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، وَرَوْحٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، (١) وَقَالَ رُوحٌ: قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَشْعَثُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ (٢) أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ: أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَتْ: " الدَّائِمُ " قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ: فَقُلْتُ: فَأَيُّ حِينٍ كَانَ يَقُومُ؟ قَالَتْ: " إِذَا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
Masruq says that I asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Which deed was the most beloved to the Prophet (peace be upon him)?" She replied, "That which is done consistently." I asked, "At what time would the Prophet (peace be upon him) stand (for prayer)?" She replied, "When he heard the crowing of the rooster."
