حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُغِيرَةُ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اسْتَرَاثَ الْخَبَرَ تَمَثَّلَ فِيهِ بِبَيْتِ (١) طَرَفَةَ:، [البحر الطويل]، وَيَأْتِيكَ بِالْأَخْبَارِ مَنْ لَمْ تُزَوِّدِ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (ﷺ) was waiting for some news and there was a delay in it, the Prophet (ﷺ) would recite this verse of Tarafah on that occasion: "The person will bring you news whom you did not provide provisions for the journey."
