Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The right of wala’—that is, the inheritance of a freed slave—belongs only to the one who sets the slave free.
