حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ جُدْعَانَ كَانَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَقْرِي الضَّيْفَ، وَيَفُكُّ الْعَانِيَ، وَيَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ، وَيُحْسِنُ الْجِوَارَ، فَأَثْنَيْتُ عَلَيْهِ، فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا، إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَقُلْ يَوْمًا قَطُّ: اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي يَوْمَ، ، الدِّينِ "، وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ مَرَّةً: فَأَثْنَتْ عَلَيْهِ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha that once I asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! Ibn Jud'an used to show hospitality in the time of ignorance, free captives, maintain ties of kinship, and feed the poor. Will these deeds benefit him?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "Aisha! No, he never said even for one day: 'O Lord! Forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment.'"
