Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once some Jews sought permission from the Prophet (ﷺ) to enter the house and said, "As-Saam Alaik" (which means: death be upon you). The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "Alaikum" (upon you). Hearing this, Aisha said, "May the curse of Allah and of those who curse be upon you." Upon this, the Jews said, "Your father did not speak in this manner." When they left, the Prophet (ﷺ) said to her, "Why did you do that?" She replied, "Did you not hear what they said?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I have replied to them. 'Wa Alaikum' (and upon you). What I say will reach them, but what they say will not reach me."
