حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ، فَقَالَتْ: " كَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ، قَامَ فَصَلَّى " (١)،

Translation

English translation

Masruq says that I asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "At what time during the night did the Prophet (ﷺ) stand (for prayer)?" She replied, "When he heard the crowing of the rooster, he would get up and start praying."
