حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا غَلَبَتْهُ عَيْنُهُ، أَوْ وَجِعَ، فَلَمْ، ، يُصَلِّ بِاللَّيْلِ، صَلَّى مِنَ النَّهَارِ اثْنَتَيْ (١) عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً " (٢)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha that if, due to sleep overpowering or illness, the Tahajjud prayer was missed by the Prophet (peace be upon him) on any day, then the Prophet (peace be upon him) would offer twelve rak'ahs during the day.
