Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha that a woman came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "May my father be sacrificed for you, I and my son bought the fruits of such-and-such man's land. We harvested the crop and separated the fruits, but by the One who honored you, we could only get as much from it as we could eat ourselves or feed to a needy person in hope of blessing. In this way, we suffered a loss. We went to the owner with this request that he compensate us for our loss, but he swore by Allah that he would not compensate us for our loss." Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Did he swear an oath not to do good?" When that man found out, he came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you, if you wish, I will compensate them for their loss (and give more fruit), and if you wish, I will give them money." So, at the Prophet's (peace be upon him) request, he compensated them for their loss.
