حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ: أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَقَالَتْ: " الدَّائِمُ "، قُلْتُ: فَأَيُّ سَاعَةٍ كَانَ يَقُومُ؟ قَالَتْ: " إِذَا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ " (١)،

Translation

English translation

Masruq says that I asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Which deed was the most beloved to the Prophet (peace be upon him)?" She replied, "The one that is done consistently." I asked, "At what time during the night did the Prophet (peace be upon him) stand (for prayer)?" She replied, "When he heard the crowing of the rooster."
