Musnad Ahmad Hadith 24601

Sa’d bin Hisham says that once I presented myself before Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: O Mother of the Believers! Tell me about the character of the Prophet (peace be upon him). She replied: The character of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was the Qur’an itself. Do you not read the Qur’an? Allah the Exalted says: « وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ » [سورۃ القلم، آیت 4] I said: I wish to become a recluse. She said: Do not do so. Do you not read in the Noble Qur’an: « لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ » [سورۃ الأحزاب، آیت 21] There is indeed for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example. The Prophet (peace be upon him) also married and had children.
